APSARA Authority Strengthens Door Frame on West Side of Bayon Temple

SIEM REAP: Technicians from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of the APSARA National Authority are restoring the west door frame of the Bayon Temple, which was damaged due to age, heat, humidity, and rain.

The technical officer Chin Sok Meng said that his working team had collected sandstone fragments that had been damaged by rain to restore and strengthen the foundation to prevent sand from leaking out, leading to the collapse of the door frame on both sides and making the top part shake.

Mr. Sok Meng added that the restoration of the door frame on the west side of the Bayon temple is being reassembled to the original location of the ancient structure. The renovation is the priority to prevent falls and also focuses on keeping the safety of tourists passing through this area. After completing this project, APSARA National Authority will also continue to restore the walls and pillars on the west side of the Bayon Temple.
